Welcome to the NJFC

The New Jersey Falconry Club is a way for the falconers of New Jersey to get together and share this sport we love so much. We typically meet twice a year, and our annual Winter Field Meet is open to all. Here, you can stay up to date with the NJFC and, if you’re new, learn how to get started.

What is Falconry?

Falconry is the ancient art of hunting with birds of prey. Historically, it was restricted to the noble class and considered a status symbol, but today it’s a common man’s sport. Falconers train birds of prey to hunt with them, responding to whistles and specific calls. Common game includes rabbits, squirrels, and ducks, amongst other small animals, depending on the bird. In New Jersey, you can fly a variety of falcons and hawks, however, apprentices are restricted to Red Tail Hawks.
